What Should I Do When My Flowers Arrive?

Updated this week

Trim the Stems: Grab some scissors and trim the stems about 1–2 cm from the base at a 45-degree angle - a nice sharp diagonal cut. This increases the surface area for water uptake and prevents the stems from sitting flat at the bottom of the vase.

Replace the vase water every few days, cleaning the vase thoroughly to remove bacteria. Fresh water helps flowers stay hydrated and healthy.

Add Flower Food: Inside your delivery, you’ll find a little packet of flower food. It's packed with nutrients that keep your blooms fed, happy, and looking gorgeous for longer. It also contains antibacterial agents that keep the vase water clean. Stir it into clean, room-temperature water as you fill your vase.

Pop Them in Water: After their journey, your flowers might be a bit thirsty due to dehydration. Fill a vase with clean water quickly to help hydrate them and restore their freshness.

Place your flowers away from direct sunlight, drafts, and fruit. Heat and sunlight can dry them out, while fruit emits ethylene gas that accelerates wilting.

Tidy Up: After placing your flowers in water, take a moment to remove any leaves that fall below the water line. Leaves submerged underwater decompose and encourage bacterial growth, which can harm your flowers. You might also see some outer petals that look a bit rough, these are just guard petals. Feel free to pluck those off to help your flowers look their absolute best.

If your flowers start to wilt, re-trim the stems at an angle using a clean, sharp knife and replace the water with lukewarm water to encourage hydration. Move them to a cool, shaded area for recovery.

For an extra boost, you can add a hint of sugar to the water when flower food is unavailable, mimicking natural plant nutrients.

Just a few simple steps and your flowers will be flourishing in no time! Enjoy your beautiful bouquet! 🌹
